Who We Serve
For aging adults, living at home is an important part of their quality of life; however, living at home independently presents challenges in life’s later years. For family members, balancing care for loved ones with their own needs poses a unique set of difficulties.
Traditional Caregiving
The most recent National Long Term Care Survey indicates over seven million people are informal or “family caregivers” who help spouses, adult children, other relatives or friends – they desperately need outside assistance. These caregivers have traditionally provided long-term care for older people, but the degree of their involvement has changed due to geographic separation, more women in the workforce, and other societal changes. Two-thirds of caregivers report conflicts between work and caregiving, thus requiring them to re-arrange their work schedules, work fewer hours, and/or take unpaid leave of absences.
